New Delhi: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has made an announcement that is bound to give Pakistan sleepless nights. Indeed, making a major declaration, the Indian Army Chief stated that India is now preparing for 'Operation Sindoor 2.0'. He emphasized that the military strategy adopted in response to Pakistan's actions following the Pahalgam terror attack remains fully operational.

What did Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi say?

"We have redoubled our efforts and are engaged around the clock in war preparations," he asserted.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, the Indian Army Chief noted that Operation Sindoor is still underway, although a temporary ceasefire is currently in effect given the prevailing situation. Without explicitly naming Pakistan, General Dwivedi delivered a stern message while highlighting India's military readiness, signaling that should a new campaign become necessary, not only the Indian Army but also the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy stand fully prepared.

Is Indian Army Preparing for 24x7 Warfare:?

The Indian Army Chief stated that should Operation Sindoor 2.0 materialize, the Indian Army—along with the other two services—is making comprehensive preparations for it. "Currently, our focus is on enhancing synergy among the three services and conditioning ourselves for 24x7 warfare," he said.

"The modern battlefield is so transparent that every movement is immediately detected by the opposing side; consequently, we must remain extremely vigilant regarding our troop deployment, operational utilization, and the necessary security protocols to safeguard both our soldiers and civilians in the border regions," he added.

General Dwivedi remarked that a war can be won only when the entire nation stands united and places its trust in those providing information. "If this unity prevails, I can assure you that a nation that places its faith in its people and all stakeholders will invariably emerge victorious in any conflict," he affirmed.

Last year, during the intervening night of May 7 and 8, 2025, India launched 'Operation Sindoor' as a robust military response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. This operation was launched following a terrorist attack that took place on April 22 in Pahalgam, South Kashmir, where Pakistan-backed terrorists opened fire in the picturesque Baisaran Valley, killing 26 people.

What Was the Extent of Pakistan's Losses in Operation Sindoor?

During Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army's offensive resulted in the elimination of over 100 terrorists—including members of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Additionally, 35 to 40 Pakistani soldiers were killed. Nine major terrorist launchpads and headquarters located in Pakistan and PoJK (Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir) were completely demolished.

Several military airbases and radar installations—including the Rawalpindi-based Noor Khan Airbase—were destroyed. Furthermore, during the Indian Army's operation, approximately 10 to 13 Pakistani combat aircraft (including F-16s), AWACS platforms, drones, and several cruise missiles were shot down.
